Ads, credits & gifts
Who sees ads, how to get rid of them and how ads earn you credits.
Who sees ads in Avorate?
Ads exist only on the free tier. Beta access and the Plus and Pro plans are ad-free, and the website avorate.app shows no ads at all. On the free tier they appear in exactly two places: before you create a presentation and before you export it. In between, while editing, practising or training a conversation, nothing appears. Each time it is a rewarded ad: short, with a counter, and then you carry on.
How do I get rid of the ads?
With a paid plan. Plus and Pro are ad-free, permanently and without any extra setting; beta access shows no ads either. There is no switch that turns ads off on the free tier: they are what pays for free access. What you can change at any time is whether the ads may be personalised.
How do I earn credits by watching ads?
In the mobile app: watch a rewarded ad in full and you receive 5 credits. At most two ads per day count, after which that day is done; the day turns at 00:00 UTC. The credit does not land in the same instant but as soon as Google has confirmed the completed view to us, normally within a few seconds. If no ad is available right now, nothing happens: no credits, and you can try again later.
- 1In the app, open your credit balance and tap “Watch an ad”.
- 2Watch the ad to the end: a cancelled ad does not count.
- 3Wait for the confirmation; the 5 credits appear in your balance.
- 4Two ads a day is the maximum; the rest waits until tomorrow.
What is a gifted plan?
We can give an account Plus or Pro for one to twelve months, for instance as a thank-you for detailed beta feedback. The next time you open the app or the web app you will see a message with a gift icon naming the plan, the period and the credits it includes. The period ends automatically: it does not renew, does not turn into a subscription and costs nothing. There is no entitlement to a gift.
Why does Avorate ask for my date of birth?
For two reasons. First, we pitch the language level and the examples at your age. Second, stricter rules apply to advertising towards younger users, and we can only keep to them if we know the age. Since September 2026 we ask for day, month and year: with the year alone the 16-year line was off by up to eleven months, and in the wrong direction. We do not verify the answer, require no proof and show it to nobody. If you are under 16, or gave no answer, you will see non-personalised ads only, and none at all in the browser. You can change the answer in the settings at any time.
How do I change my consent choices?
There are three separate routes, depending on what you mean. For cookies on avorate.app and in the web app, open “Cookie settings” in the footer. For advertising, “Ad settings” reopens Google's own dialog, where you allow or withdraw personalised ads. And the voluntary error diagnostics in the mobile app (Sentry) are switched on and off in the app settings; they are off by default. Every withdrawal takes effect immediately, for the future.
